How to Write a Poem: A Guide for Beginners

HOW TO MAKE A POEM: Writing a poem is a beautiful experience for me. Poem Writing is more than just playing with the words. We connect the words to bring a rhythm putting our feelings. How to make poems is a question we often overcome after looking at the greatest poems of all the time. I never considered myself a poet. I framed up my feelings into words and arranged them to deliver the idea behind them. I often write poems based on my experiences in life and try to connect them with the natural and social behavior I see around me. Poetry might look like just as few arranged words to deliver an idea but it gives us the taste of experiences of life. We are often asked, How to write a poem. So this is a guide for the beginners.

Poem writing is the art of analysis of social and natural behavior. As beginners, we can start writing a short note or imagining a topic or an object. Then we can start playing with the words and giving them a rhyme. Connecting the words is the secret of poetry. Poetry holds a large packet of ideas within a few words. When we talk about writing poetry, it`s not just about the rhyming of words but exploring all the possibilities. Let`s not make it complicated and explain it in simple language for the beginners in poetry.

Writing Poetry is an art to be mastered with time by practicing. The more we write, the more we understand the grammar of the poetic language. There are various forms of poetry, but for beginners, it`s not necessary to go into the depth of the forms, instead start writing by framing the words. We often struggle to end the poem once we start writing since we tend to flow with the rhyme of words. It`s necessary to analyze the topic or the source of the idea before framing it into a poem.

I would also suggest reading poems of their favorite poets and analyzing them on their own. Reading the poem develops the skill of finding the idea between the words and behind the line. The reading develops the skill of observing and results in better writing.

As a beginner, I would suggest everyone to- write randomly at the first step and later connect those words or replace them with a better one. Joining the first line with the second line will automatically drive us to the third line. That`s the beauty of Poetry. Poetry is a journey with lots of possibilities for the ideas we hold within us. If you want to explore those possibilities dive and taste them.
